Day seven…excited about turnip
This is my seventh day, I’ve had fried eggs and mushrooms for breakfast, been to Tesco and bought a few staples that I’ll need. One thing I’ve realised is that I’ll need to do regular shopping as so much of what I eat is fresh. I did manage to buy some turnip today, which I’m very excited about and will be having mashed turnip for my tea. I usually eat swede, love it, normally eat a lot of it, but it wasn’t around in the 15th century so I’m rather excited to find this turnip!
I’m going to cook a chicken in the slow cooker once I have the vervain out of it, as I’m making a decoction at the moment. So all good, the highlight being that I’ve turnip later..
I just had bread and cheese for lunch, but will make sure I have loads of veg with my dinner tonight.
Turnip update: I cubed, boiled, drained, mashed with butter and salt, had it with some peas and fish, it’s quite watery and looks a bit like mashed potato, but it’s quite high in vitamin C,iron, fibre, and tasted a little bit like swede. I was rightly excited about turnip.
